Baking Up a Sweet Valentine's Day

Love is in the air with these delicious and creative sweet Valentine's Day decorated sugar cookies.


After all Valentine's Day is all about sweetness. Better than a dozen roses, here are a few decorating ideas that may inspire you to indulge your creativity and sweet tooth in baking and decorating some of the best romantic decorated sugar cookie ever!


Who needs Cupid when you've got these beautiful sweet treats, that you can make yourself? I've rounded up a great sugar cookie recipes for these beautiful heart-shaped. Valentine's Day inspired cookies.


INGREDIENTS:


4 cups flour sifted

1/3 cup corn starch

3/4 tsp salt

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract


INSTRUCTIONS:


Sift your the flour, corn starch and salt in a large bowl.


Give it a whisk.In your standing mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugar together.


Add the eggs while mixing. Scrape down sides of the bowl.


Add 1 tsp vanilla extract.Pour in the flour mixture and mix until everything is well incorporated.


Put the dough in a plastic bag, flatten it together, then chill it in the refrigerator so it firms up.


Once the dough is chilled, place it on a rolling matt, sprinkle with flour and roll out with a rolling pin.


Move the dough around so to prevent it from sticking.Use a circular cookie cutter to cut out your cookies. Take away extra scraps to re-roll for more cookies.Place them on a non-stick baking sheet and bake at 375F for 12 minutes.





For the Icing:

2 egg whites

1 lb confectioner's sugar

1/4 tsp cream of tartar

2-4 tsp water

Food coloring


Instructions:

Sift the powdered sugar into a bowl.


Beat the egg whites and add the cream of tartar once they become frothy.


Add the sugar in 3-4 batches and mix at low speed.


Once combined, add the water until desired consistency is reached.


Stir in the food coloring.
